Sr. Front End Engineer

As a Lead Front End Engineer, you are a critical member of an Agile team responsible for developing solutions that help our customers create a more effective digital presence.  You will contribute to and drive design and development on our public-facing web properties, while collaborating closely with business partners and stakeholders (e.g. Product Manager, Data Services, Developers, QA, Architects) throughout the Agile process.

About the role:

In this opportunity as SR. Front End Engineer, you will:

  • Provide thought leadership and industry best practices in support of our public-facing online applications.

  • Produce high-quality, secure code that is unit tested, code reviewed and checked in regularly for continuous integration.

  • Partner in all phases of Agile delivery, such as project chartering, story mapping, and sprint planning.

  • Be accountable for application integrity by promoting software development best practices that support efficient coding, maintenance, release deployment, and reduce the likelihood of defects making their way into the production environment.

  • Act as a consultant and knowledge base for our business and technology stakeholders.

  • Bring a curious mindset, striving to learn something new every day, while focusing on delivering innovative solutions for our customers.


About you:

You're a fit for the role of Lead Front End Engineer if your background includes:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Sciences, Mathematics, Engineering, Business, or similar area of functional responsibility preferred.

  • 7+ years relevant software development experience focused on online applications.

  • Design and development experience working with high-traffic, public-facing online properties.

  • Deep experience implementing and supporting SEO strategies.

  • Demonstrated ability to craft semantic HTML and CSS to meet mobile design and cross-browser requirements.

  • Experience with JavaScript frameworks and related development and deployment tools (React, Node, etc.).

  • Web application full-stack development experience with technologies such as HTML5, CSS, SASS, JavaScript, Foundation JS. Experience with back end language layout integration (like PHP and Java) a plus.

  • Strong analytical and debugging skills, and familiarity with common debugging tools (Chrome Dev Tools, etc.).

  • Experience with both back-end and front-end performance analysis including familiarity with related tools such as Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, Adobe Launch, Google Tag Manager.

  • Experience implementing AWS services (e.g. S3, EC2, SQS, etc.) is a plus.

  • Experience with Cloudflare Workers a plus.

  • Experience designing solutions to maximize CDN performance.

  • Experience with cross-browser functional testing as well as an awareness of common web development pitfalls and solutions.

  • Familiarity with A/B testing and related tools (e.g., Adobe Target, Optimost)

  • Familiarity with SQL and performing data analysis with relational and XML databases. 

  • Demonstrated ability to build effective cross-functional relationships.
