The shortlisted candidate should have the ability to analyse technical needs and work with the customers to develop project scope of work documents and Project Plans.

The responsibilities are primarily technical, although there is a strong element of functional understanding of the business process.

Role Description:
Our DiCE organization at Merck is looking to transform the AIDDISON user interfaces, we are looking for a Senior UI Developer who can elevate our UI development, particularly as we move towards implementing Next JS.

ABOUT OUR TECHNOLOGY
The AIDDISON drug discovery software integrates artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and computer-aided drug design (CADD) methods to serve as a valuable toolkit for medicinal chemistry requirements.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

•  Work as part of an Agile development team, taking the lead on UI transformation of an existing Angular-based web application.
• Drive technical designs to support business goals.
• Demonstrate deep expertise in UI development.
• Independently analyze existing implementations in Angular and introduce best practices, optimizing designs for the upgraded system using Next.JS.
• Work autonomously, taking the initiative to understand the current architecture, identify areas of improvement, and drive those improvements with minimal oversight
• Maintain a high-quality software mindset, ensuring that the written code functions effectively.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education:

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in computer science or equivalent.

Mandatory Skills:

•  8-10+ years of hands-on software engineering experience.
• Expert knowledge of React and/or NextJS with TypeScript.
• Experience with Angular.
• Proficiency in responsive design and modern CSS frameworks.
• Experience in consuming REST services.
• Familiarity with unit test frameworks.
• Ability to provide solutions based on business requirements.
• Collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Work with global teams and a flexible work schedule.
• Strong problem-solving skills and customer-centric focus.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with Micro services, Event Oriented Architectures and Distributed Systems
• Experience with cloud environments (Amazon Web Services)
• Experience with product-oriented engineering development teams is a plus
• Experience with version control systems (Git preferred)
• Familiarity with DevOps practices/principles, Agile/Scrum methodologies, CI/CD pipelines and the product development lifecycle
• Familiarity with Web Socket development.
