The Transactions engineering team is responsible for Parkopedia's cutting-edge in-car commerce platform, enabling drivers to pay for fueling and parking from within their vehicle. We are looking for a passionate and innovative engineer to join our cross-functional team as we take in-car payments to the next level.

You will have in-depth experience architecting and designing cloud based transactions processing systems - including payment card processing - and will work closely with third party service providers, building out abstractions over these APIs which are exposed to our own clients.

Are you adaptable, flexible and pragmatic with a DevOps mindset? Are you able to apply good engineering processes to deliver software products of high quality and performance, even with occasionally ambiguous requirements?

Our ideal candidate will be a lifelong learner who enjoys solving technical problems, is curious about new technologies, and loves sharing knowledge and experience with their colleagues.

We offer a rewarding working environment within a collaborative, supportive and inclusive team, where your contribution is valued, and where you feel empowered to do your best work.

Responsibilities

You’ll work primarily with TypeScript, Node, React and AWS services to deliver:

  • Exciting new features which enable drivers to pay for fueling, tolling, EV charging and parking.
  • Improved reliability, maintainability, security and testability to our in-car payments platform.

You will participate in Scrum ceremonies and work with your colleagues, stakeholders and third parties, to align on requirements and deliver a user experience you can be proud of.

The role requires demonstrable experience of backend development using Node, Typescript and React, and includes full lifecycle development of RESTful APIs and web apps which can operate at scale on AWS.

You will appreciate the benefits of TDD/BDD, ensuring all code is tested and reviewed to the highest standards, and adapt quickly to changing environments, concepts and emerging technologies to assist in the future roadmap of our products.

As a team, we are responsible for the health of the systems we build. You should understand performance tuning and optimisation, and how to diagnose technical issues across local, pre-release and production environments running on AWS.

We operate a DevOps culture and are responsible for developing, deploying, operating and monitoring our team’s deliverables.

Requirements

    • Skilled and proficient coding in TypeScript, Node and React
    • Demonstrable expertise and understanding of API development/design and experience interfacing with disparate systems.
    • Commercial experience with AWS and IaC (Terraform/CDK/CloudFormation)
    • Applicable understanding of API security, common exploits and secure development practices, including the OWASP Top 10.
    • Proven and demonstrable understanding of testing methodologies and frameworks.
    • Commercial experience with Linux, Docker, Docker Compose, Git and DynamoDB.

Benefits

Parkopedia is committed to building a great work environment for all our employees. Here are just a few of the benefits that we offer:

    • Unlimited annual leave - yup, time off is as important as time in the office, we all need to unwind and recharge our batteries!
    • Flexible working hours
    • Training allowance
    • Annual company retreat
    • Health benefit
    • Time off for volunteering

We are an equal opportunities employer and believe in the power of a diverse and inclusive team. We welcome applications from everyone, regardless of race, sex, disability, religion/belief, sexual orientation or age.
